Community Development

With communities, not to them.

Working with communities rather than doing things to them: listening first, identifying needs together, including local leadership, and building local capacity that outlasts us.

People are partners in their own restoration — not projects to be managed.

Every project listens to local people, identifies needs collaboratively, includes local leadership, develops local capacity, respects cultural context, encourages community ownership and establishes maintenance plans before anything is handed over.

Programmes seek fair access regardless of religion, ethnicity, gender, disability, economic status, social background, political affiliation or family background. Selection is based on transparent and appropriate criteria, published where we can publish them.

“Act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly.”
Micah 6:8
Accountability

What we measure

We publish outcomes rather than activity counts, and we do not publish a number we cannot evidence.

  • Community participation in decisions
  • Local capacity retained after handover
  • Equitable access across groups
  • Projects still functioning at follow-up
